ME) Scholarship Program seeks to increase the number, quality, and effectiveness of biology and mathematics teachers interested in teaching in high- needs school districts across the United States. The Bio. ME program provides biology and mathematics majors with scholarships over their junior and senior years at Sacred Heart University as well as funding to complete their Master of Arts in Teaching. Students will have opportunities to participate in specially designed seminars and courses to enhance your preparation as a secondary biology or math teacher as well as field experience specific to STEM education. You will become trained to take your place in the exciting world of STEM education in conjunction with the cultural competence, pedagogical knowledge, and dispositions to be a successful teacher in a high needs school district. For each full- year of a scholarship award received, scholarship recipients are required to complete two years of service as a STEM teacher in a high- need local educational agency, with a total service requirement of six years.
